Biography


Born right after the war in Alsace, Guy Roel climbs out of the crip listening to American music on the US military bases neighboring Germany. As a teen in the "Rock'n'Rollin 60's", he creates two bands, one of which contains Gérard Jelsh, future drummer for the group ANGE.

In 1970, Guy Roel makes a 7-year move to Sweden where he becomes a groove, funk and fusion specialist, backing up such artists as Eric Bibb, Johnny Nash and even Bob Marley (73!).

In 1975 he creates a jazz-rock band with a group of Swedish musicians(Jan Tolf,Harald Svensson,Lennard Aberg,Malando Gassama) Bitchmilk as the group would become known, was and still remain one of the hottest fusion group on the Swedish jazz-rock scene.

Guy Roel leaves Sweden in 1977 to join DELIVERANCE (Paul Janz), a franco-canadian formation the next three years include extensive touring and recording : RFA, Switzerland, Holland, Austria and two LP's - Lasting Impressions (Atlantic) and Tight Rope (GMG).
From 1981 to 1985 Guy Roel becomes a session player, recording with such artist asDonna Summer, Jim Mc Carthy, George Gruntz, to name a few...

It's in 1984 that Guy Roel hit's the road as a one man blues band as well as in duos, trios or quartet. It's on this vast highway that Guy Roel finds himself in the fast lane to success as a headliner in clubs across Europe.

His festival participation includes : Cahors 95, Cognac 97-02, Mulhouse95,96,97,98,99,03, Leysin, Freiburg,Schweinfurt, Maputo 96, Neuchâtel 99, Fresselines 00, le Creusot ("guest-star"withUS singer Lisa Dobby00) 01-02,Nice03, opening act for the Calvin Russel winter tour 200.
